Add Desktop Shortcut for Globalstar Dial-Up Networking

The following simple steps will add a Desktop Shortcut to your Windows PC, so that it is easier to access Globalstar Dial-Up Networking,

XP and Windows 2000:

The connection is usually available via the START menu, in the “Connect To” link on the right-hand column of the START menu. However, depending on how the PC has been setup and Windows has been customized, sometimes the START button doesn’t show the “Connect To” item on the right hand column.

If the “Connect To” item is not available on the START menu:

  1. Press the START button
  2. Select Control Panel
  3. If the Control Panel is a matrix of icons (Classic View), select “Network Connections
Otherwise, if the Control Panel has a header entitled “Pick a category” (Category View), click on “Network and Internet Connections” and then click “Network Connections
  4. Right-Click on the network icon for the Globalstar Dial-Up Networking connection and select “Create Shortcut
  5. Shortcut should now be available on the Windows Desktop

Windows 7:
A)  Open the Network and Sharing Center by either:

  1. Right-click one of the NETWORK icons in the system tray of the Windows 7 toolbar (usually in the lower right corner)

Then click on Network and Sharing Center

  2. — or —  Click on the START button and open Control Panel. Click on Network and Sharing Center

B)  The Network and Sharing Center window should now be visible

C)  Click Change adapter settings in the left panel of the Network and Sharing Center

D)  You will see the Dial-up connection displayed as a network adapter. When you right click the Dial-up adapter you will see the option “Create Shortcut“, and this will place the shortcut on your desktop.

E)  The shortcut should now be visible on your desktop
