Antenna Spacing
When installing an antenna, it is important to ensure proper separation between adjacent antennas. Proper antenna spacing is dependent on a number of factors, including frequency, antenna sensitivity, receiver functionality, and the presence or absense of receiver/transmitter filters. Globalstar utilizes the 2.5GHZand 1.6GHz frequency bands, for which the minimum recommended Globalstar-to-Globalstar antenna separation is 9 inches.
Users sometimes wonder if it is possible to place a Globalstar antenna within 3-5 inches of a dual GPS (1575MHz)/GPRS (1850-1950MHz) antenna. If the Globalstar and GPS/GPRS antennas are closer than the recommended 9-inch spacing, GPS performance may be affected. In addition, the presence of the GPRS antenna (whether idle or in use) can distort the Globalstar signal and result in a less reliable link.
